The research of the Laboratory is focused in various areas of applied physics, such as electrical and dielectric characterization of materials and devices, electrical – electronic measurements, study of structure – properties of materials, spectroscopy techniques, microelectronics and nanoelectronics. The activity of the Laboratory is aimed mainly at the characterization of materials and devices which are widely used in the science of electronics as well as on the study of the electrical properties of a very large range of materials in terms of their electrical characteristics. Specifically, the dielectric, magnetic and thermal properties of materials, structures and devices are studied, by using techniques such as: wide – range dielectric spectroscopy as well as measurements of dc and ac conductivity over a wide range of temperatures.

The available equipment of the laboratory provides the possibility of performing measurements with the technique of dielectric spectroscopy, which is used in the Laboratory as a tool of non-destructive techniques in order to study materials. Using the laboratory spectroscopy devices, electrical, dielectric, magnetic and thermal characterization of both commercial electronic devices and structures is performed at nanoscale levels.

The aforementioned techniques are used in the Laboratory in order to study a quite diverse list of materials such as: dielectric materials of microelectronics, electromagnetic shielding materials, conductive polymers, semiconductors, non-linear dielectrics, dielectric polymeric thin films, dielectric polymeric materials, polymeric electrolytes, biological (DNA, cells, plant tissues) and biocompatible materials, mixtures, partial polymers, intertwined networks, hybrid, nanostructured, molecular composites, biomaterials, nanocomposites, nanomaterials, nanoelectronic materials.
